We are seeking an experienced Director of Payroll to lead high-volume payroll operations in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. This role is responsible for scaling payroll delivery through strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and advanced use of the UKG Ready platform.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring direct involvement in payroll processing, system configuration, and complex issue resolution. The ideal candidate brings experience in a payroll services or bureau environment and is comfortable operating in a client-facing, high-touch delivery model.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Operations & Compliance

• Lead multi-state, high-volume payroll processing for enterprise-level clients
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across all payroll cycles
• Oversee payroll tax setup, corrections, reconciliations, and reporting
• Manage year-end processes including W-2s and ACA reporting
• Oversee payroll funding, ACH processing, and related best practices

UKG Ready Platform Leadership

• Act as the subject matter expert for UKG Ready payroll operations
• Oversee system configuration, workflows, controls, and integrations
• Partner cross-functionally to optimize system performance and scalability
• Lead training and development to strengthen team capabilities in UKG Ready

Team Leadership & Development

• Build and develop a high-performing payroll team
• Establish training programs, documentation standards, and quality controls
• Mentor team members to strengthen technical expertise and leadership skills

Client & Escalation Management

• Support enterprise client relationships in a high-touch service environment
• Act as escalation point for complex payroll issues
• Provide expert guidance in client-facing conversations

Strategic Leadership

• Partner with cross-functional teams to improve operations and support growth
• Use data and reporting to drive decision-making and performance
• Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements
  
  

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive payroll leadership experience
• Experience in a payroll service, bureau, or client delivery environment REQUIRED
• Advanced, hands-on experience with UKG Ready REQUIRED
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, taxation, and reconciliations
• Experience managing high-volume, multi-state payrolls
• Experience with year-end processing (W-2, ACA, etc.)
• Strong leadership, communication, and client-facing skills
• Experience managing payroll funding/ACH processes preferred
